David Avella

Fox News Commentator, Chairman GoPAC

A seasoned communications professional and political leader, Avella has spent his career working to advance free enterprise, job creation and opportunity. He is a requested speaker on current national and state affairs, news headlines of the day and how to communicate effectively. He delivered an address at the 2016 Republican National Convention reminding the Party that Aristotle was right when he said, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Every office at every level of government determines the strength of the whole.


During his tenure at the helm of GOPAC, Avella has returned the organization to being the Republican Party’s premier center for educating and electing a new generation of Republican leaders. It’s a force in American politics as it ensures a healthy roster of prepared and tested state leaders are ready to lead in their legislatures and/or run for higher office.


A native of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Avella earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science at Shepherd University. He and his wife, Claire, currently reside in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, with their daughters Emerson and Tinsley.

Brian R. Epling

Attorney at Law, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings

Brian Epling is an attorney in Bradley’s Nashville office. Brian assists financial services clients, including small dollar lenders, auto finance companies, and mortgage servicers, with navigating regulatory compliance and litigation issues. On the regulatory compliance side, Brian has assisted financial services clients with policies and procedures to comply with state and federal law and investor requirements. With respect to litigation, he has successfully argued dispositive motions and appeals involving alleged violations of the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Procedures Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Additionally, Brian has represented auto finance companies in administrative matters against the state.

Christopher K. Friedman

Chris Friedman is an attorney in Bradley’s Nashville office. Chris represents banks, servicers and other financial services institutions involved in civil litigation, as well as compliance and regulatory matters. He has defended financial institutions against claims of fraud, breach of contract, and misrepresentation. He has also advised institutions regarding lien rights and has experience in HOA and COA super-priority lien litigation. Chris represents lenders and other housing providers involved in Fair Housing matters. In addition, he has defended broker-dealers facing claims involving churning, suitability, breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation asserted in federal courts.

Jennifer L. Galloway

Jennifer Galloway serves as Counsel in Bradley’s Tampa office. Her practice focuses on consumer financial services laws and regulations affecting banks, non-depository banks and other financial institutions. Jennifer provides skilled regulatory guidance and detailed knowledge of the laws impacting the alternative financial services market, such as online consumer lending. Her compliance work includes assisting clients with developing, implementing and maintaining compliance management systems, performing internal compliance audits for clients, preparing clients for outside audits, and preparing related lending documents and disclosures. Jennifer also counsels financial services companies regarding CFPB preparedness, implementation, and operational strategies for complying with the CFPB's regulations.

Lee Gilley

Lee Gilley is a Partner in Bradley’s Birmingham office. Lee represents financial institutions, including banks, mortgage companies, debt collectors, small dollar lenders, and payment systems providers (credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, mobile payments, etc.) in litigation and regulatory matters related to compliance and state laws and regulations. Lee advises clients during examinations and investigations and has worked with clients to successfully challenge exam findings and, where appropriate, resolve issues through settlement. Lee represents clients in sensitive internal compliance reviews and investigations where he works closely with business, legal, and compliance leaders to identify process issues and develop workable solutions.

Riley Key is a Partner in Bradley’s Birmingham office. Riley’s practice focuses on counseling financial services clients facing regulatory and enforcement challenges in the mortgage, auto finance, debt collection, small dollar lending, and payments (credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, mobile payments, and cryptocurrencies) industries. He focuses a substantial portion of his practice on assisting financial institutions as they prepare for and work through CFPB and other federal and state-specific supervisory examinations. Riley also frequently represents clients in regulatory compliance matters where he works closely with business, legal, and compliance leaders to identify compliance issues and develop workable solutions.

Don McGahn

Practice Leader Government Regulation, Jones Day

Prior to rejoining Jones Day in 2019, Don served as Counsel to the President of the United States, advising Donald J. Trump on all legal issues concerning the President and his administration, including constitutional and statutory authority, executive orders, international agreements, tariffs, trade, administrative law, and national security. Don also managed the judicial selection process for the President. During Don's tenure, a historic number of judges were appointed to the federal bench, including two Supreme Court justices. In addition, he spearheaded President Trump's deregulation efforts, which resulted in deregulation at record rates. Following Don's departure from the White House, the President appointed him to the Council of the Administrative Conference of the United States, a nonpartisan, independent agency dedicated to promoting improvement to administrative agency processes.

Don's accomplishments have been recognized at the highest levels of government. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that Don concluded his tenure "not only as the best White House Counsel I've seen on the job, but more broadly, as one of the most successful and consequential aides to any President in recent memory."

Don was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2008, and confirmed in the Senate by unanimous consent, to serve as a member of the Federal Election Commission. He also served as outside Counsel to the Committee on House Administration during the 113th and 114th Congresses and as general counsel to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Preston H. Neel

Preston Neel is an attorney in Bradley’s Birmingham office. He is one of a small number of lawyers who has earned an Accredited Mortgage Professional designation through the Mortgage Bankers Association. With respect to litigation, Preston primarily represents clients in the residential mortgage space. On the compliance side, he has assisted several clients with bringing their operations into compliance. In this capacity Preston has managed examinations and served as in-house counsel for several financial services companies supporting internal business units, managing and responding to information requests, self-disclosing issues to state and federal examiners, and working with examiners during on-site reviews.

Jessica Tarlov

Jessica Tarlov is Vice President, Insights at Bustle Digital Group. Kara Ward is a Washington, D.C., attorney and member of Holland & Knight's Public Policy & Regulation Group. Ms. Ward focuses her practice on financial services and the housing finance market. She has experience with issues related to Dodd-Frank implementation, housing finance, insurance, consumer financial services, blockchain and community economic development.

Combining federal and private practice experience, Ms. Ward provides various financial service companies and trade group clients with policy analysis and strategic advice to advance their business objectives on Capitol Hill and in the Executive branch. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Ward was an attorney with the Treasury Department during the economic crisis.
